Vanessa Chantal Paradis was born on December 22, 1972 in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, near Paris. She became famous at the age of 14 because of her hit single Joe le taxi which was number one in France for 11 weeks. This is very unusual for a singer who performs in French. She moved to the U.S. in 1992 to work with Lenny Kravitz who was her unofficial boyfriend. She then created an album in English which she became fluent in and this album titled Vanessa Paradis was a hit in France and the UK. She then starred in films like Noce Blanche, La Fille sur Le pont and Mon Ange. La fille sur le pont was an arthouse box office hit in the United States. She has been married to actor Johnny Depp since 1998 with two kids. They both divide their time between Hollywood and their South France farm in the village of Timsbury, Somerset. They also have apartments in Paris, Manhattan, and an island in the Bahamas.
